Things Piquing My Interest On This Peak of the Week!

October 14, 2020 by Sharon

Here is a list of things piquing my interest on this Peak of the Week! It’s not Hump Day, it’s Wednesday! It’s all downhill from here!

We had friends in from Texas this weekend! We had so much fun visiting and looking at our beautiful fall leaves. We also drove over to the Gilman Tunnels. If you are ever in Northern New Mexico, it is worth the drive. Jemez Springs is the cutest mountain village, and the drive through the mountains is always beautiful!!

Butter Biscuits recipe, pique my interest

Butter Swim Biscuits– I have been trying different biscuit recipes on a quest to find the best biscuit from the easiest recipe! I think I found it with this one. I made it for our friend who were visiting this weekend, and these biscuits were a huge hit!!

Design Mom

My Twitter Thread on Abortion– Abortion is such a hot topic right now- when isn’t it. As with most things, I see both sides. This blog post written by Gabby Blair from a Twitter thread she did months ago, always makes me pause. I’ve revisited it several times. It’s not easy to read, but this isn’t an easy topic. One thing for sure, Gabby makes me think!

Other links piquing my interest

Wow- my pastor went “there” on Sunday. He preached about politics! It is a great sermon! My two biggest take aways.

  1. If I am fixating on Trump because I love and support him, he can easily become an idol to me. But also, if I fixate on Trump because I cant’ stand him, and I let his tweets consume my thoughts (guilty), then I also allow him to become an idol!
  2. Those who are posting divisive, rude, (and a lot of times inaccurate) posts on Facebook lose their voice. They don’t realize that people stop listening! Any voice that they might have for good, is gone.

I thought it was just me that didn’t want to see their posts any more- I realize now that if I feel that way many others do too. I’ve unfollowed many people on FB mainly because I’m so disappointed in friends, but the true tragedy is that they have lost their voice for any good that they could have put out into the world!! WOW- I needed to hear that. Now I need to remember it!!

What I’m Reading- Same as last week! I’m a slow reader!!
