Things Piquing My Interest On This Peak Of The Week

March 17, 2021 by Sharon

It’s Wednesday! The Peak of the Week. Here are some things piquing my interest on this beautiful day!! What’s piquing yours?

I’m still dreaming of travel! I have a couple of links I’m sharing on travel so I’m sharing some pictures today from a trip to Monet’s Gardens in Giverny, France. It was a beautiful place.

Have you seen a Monet painting similar to my picture?

The Best Train Trips to Take Across America–

The only time I’ve traveled by train has been in Europe, and those were only to get from one city to the next. I would love to try an overnight train experience!

Crows Have A Mob Mentality Toward Ravens

We have an abundance of crows and ravens where I live in northern New Mexico. I always wonder if Game of Thrones author, George R. R. Martin, put them in his novels because he sees so many living in Santa Fe. I’ve learned that they are very smart creatures. This article was interesting!

Vacation On the Edge of the World: Rim Cabins of Palo Duro Canyon

I grew up about 30 miles from Palo Duro Canyon. We went many times while I was growing up, but I never knew about these cabins. I love the Texas Country Reporter video at the end of this article.

My photo of the green bridge.
Monet’s painting of the same bridge.

Growing My Faith in the Face of Death

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve started following Dr. Russel Moore though his newsletter and on Twitter. He shared this article this week. I hope it is one I come back to. Such wisdom in the face of death. Here is my favorite quote from this article.

“To our surprise and encouragement, Kathy and I have discovered that the less we attempt to make this world into a heaven, the more we are able to enjoy it.”

Popular on the blog this week.

Candle Cake

I shared a link to this candle last week right after I bought it on Etsy. I was so happy with it that I shared it on my IG Reels. So many people have bought it that I wanted to share it again. I love it on my table!! It adds so much to the look of the table. Many people on IG thought it was a real cake!

Can be purchased HERE.

Here is a link to the post.

Also popular were these faux leather pants from The Loft. I have leather leggings, but have wanted pants, and these are perfect! Can be purchased HERE.

What I’m Reading– Abide in Me by Elizabeth Strout. Set in New England in the 1950s. We meet Tyler who is a young widowed pastor in a small town. The plot develops leading to the death of his wife. I’m enjoying it so far!

Can be purchased HERE.

What I’m Watching– Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile This movie on Netflix is a great look at Ted Bundy. I have read several books about Bundy. My joke is that my mother gave the books to me before I went off to college because she knew I wouldn’t hesitate to get the the VW Bug with the good looking law student. But seriously, I didn’t remember several things from this movie. I highly recommend it!

What I’m listening to- Alexa!! I highly recommend getting an Echo of some kind from Amazon if you don’t already have one. I listen to playlists that I’ve created, radio stations, and playlists from Amazon. All I say is, “Alexa, play…” and her wish is my command!! Echos can be purchased HERE.
