Things Piquing My Interest #92

April 12, 2023 by Sharon

We had a wonderful Easter! I hope you did as well. My daughter who is a fantastic cook helped me in the kitchen. I hadn’t had banana pudding in a long time. It was delicious!

UPDATE– Here is a quick update that has to do with what I shared in my last blog post about my mantra and giving things to God. I’ve been waiting weeks to hear from the hospital to schedule my procedure. I heard from them Tuesday afternoon. There was a cancelation so I go in on Friday for an outpatient procedure. I’ll keep you posted!!

Happy almost Pique of the week Pique Of The Month! There are a few things piquing my interest this April! I hope you find them interesting too!

Benefits of Moving Out Of Your Hometown-This is an interesting article. I guess because I remarried and moved somewhere new later in life, I have experienced some of these benefits mentioned in the article. I went away to college after growing up in a small town. After getting married, we moved to a new place too. Each move has added richness to my life. Another way to gain some of these benefits is to simply travel. I’m not talking about traveling to tourist destinations unless you get out and meet the people of the community. I mean really travel and see an area while taking the time to learn the history and meet the people who live there. LIFECHANGING! Other things that can be done are reading books about other parts of the country or the world. Read memoirs about others’ lives. Follow people on social media who live far off from you or better yet don’t look like you!

It Does Matter When You Check Into Your Flight– Do you set an alarm to remind yourself to check in like I do? Of course, Southwest is a must, but we learned the hard way on American that your selected seat can be picked by someone else upon their check in!!

What is a Mezuzah? (And Should Christians Have One?– I learned something new in my Bible Recap Bible in a year podcast the other day when we were studying Deuteronomy. I’ve always loved the scripture in Deuteronomy that talks about teaching God’s word to our children. The verse (9) about writing them on your doorpost was inspiration for me in my house in Texas. Each of my children’s bedrooms has a scripture as the border in the room. This article explains how Jews take these verses very literally and have a Mezuzah that they place by the doorframe of their houses. I love the idea!

Deuteronomy 6: 6-9—–6These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. 7And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8Tie them as reminders on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.

What We Are Watching

The Chosen– We have started season 2 of The Chosen. I can’t get over how good it is. We usually watch from the app, but Seasons 1&2 are on Amazon Prime. If you haven’t watched it, it’s a must. It will keep you on your toes trying to remember, “Is that actually in the Bible?” But, I love the added characterization and the back stories told through these wonderful bible stories! It definitely makes the disciples come to life!

What I’m Reading

I just finished this book. It sounds weird to say that I loved a book about a young woman battling cancer, but I did love it. It’s so much more that her battle. It’s how she managed her life when she go well. I suggested my daughter read this in her book club. The author always comes to their virtual book club. I’m sure Suleika would come. I want to be invited if she does!

I’m starting this book tonight. We are traveling to Venice in a few weeks. I have a tour planned to visit St. Marks Basilica. I’m fascinated the his remains are supposedly buried there. It makes me want to know more of his story so this is the only book I could find.

What I’m Listening To

Russell Moore Podcast- The Crucifixion- Such an interesting podcast with Flemming Rutledge who wrote The Crucifixion. I hope to read it soon.

Area Of Concentration

Outside!– I was able to clean off the firepit table and set out some cushions today! It’s finally feeling like spring, and I’m here for it!!

What Others Have Been Buying

I usually share commission/ affiliate links in my stories on IG and FB. Here are what have been popular!

I love this coverup so much! I bought it at Dillard’s but I can’t find the exact link. This link takes you to a similar one, and it’s on sale! Buy It Here

I also love this new swim suit. The neckline is extremely flattering! Buy it Here.

I had a lot of questions about this wreath when I shared it. People wondered if it really looked good in person, but I do think it’s a cute wreath. It is small though, but the cost is minimal. One follower in San Antonio even added ribbon for a Fiesta vibe. I like mine!! Buy it HERE.

Here it is with ribbons for Fiesta!

I have worn these Sam and Libby slides from Wal Mart every day since I got them! Buy Them Here.

No picture, but I’ve worn these Spanx jeans so much. My sister tried mine on and loved them so much, she bought a pair too. I suggested in stories to go to a store to try them on because I would try sizing down. I bought the small. I want Spanx to do what they are supposed to do, and I love them!! Buy Them Here.

Don’t forget- I have an Amazon storefront. Here it is!
