Things Piquing My Interest #89

January 18, 2023 by Sharon

We have snow this week!

Things Piquing My Interest #89. Wow- 89 posts of sharing things that are of interest to me seem impossible, but I’ve been doing this for quite some time. Many others are doing it now because we learned about these “Round Up” posts in my blogging mastermind group.

I started doing it because some of my favorite blogs did it. I love to share things I find so I started doing it too. Plus, it helps me keep track of things. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone back to a post for a link!

My Amazon Storefront–

Don’t forget I have an Amazon Storefront. I only add items that I love!! I make a small amount off of what you buy at no extra cost to you. Believe me, I don’t do it for the money! It’s been so much fun to learn all these new things. Hopefully good for my brain too!

Big Surprise!

The really big surprise is that I’m updating this. We didn’t get to go on this trip to NYC because we both have COVID. I don’t want to rewrite it so I’m just clarifying with this!

We are headed to NYC today! This is such a WHIM trip! Dr. T (kind of) asked what I wanted to do for my birthday. We were driving back from an unexpected trip to Texas, and we were both so happy! I asked, “Would you want to go to NYC for my birthday.” He instantly said yes! This will be my third time in NYC for my birthday. I have two very specific things I want to do which of course have to do with shopping. I’m going to buy myself a birthday gift at a store that just opened there. It is the only store in the US at this time!!!

The rest of the trip will be about HIM so we will be going to some museums, going to see Hamilton (my third time to see it), and eating great food!!

So NYC is what’s piquing my interest the most this week, but of course there are a few others, and here they are… I’d love to hear what’s piquing yours!

New COVID Variant– I guess the biggest news about this XBB.1.5 variant is that I’ve heard from several people that we will all get this one!

*** Let me just say here. I don’t care at all about the NYC trip being cancelled. I was able to cancel our flights and hotel and get all my money back. I bought insurance for our Hamilton tickets. It’s all good. I’m thankful that Dr. T and I are sick together! I’m thankful it’s this week and not before when we were around so many family members! So much to be thankful for!

The sun is setting after a snow filled day. It’s been beautiful!

Things Piquing My Interest

25 small towns within driving distance of San Antonio that are worth a weekend road trip– This is a great round up of small towns in Texas. Some are not an easy drive from San Antonio, but that’s OK. I’ve been to most and highly recommend them. The town where our Texas house is almost made it! Our house is in a town close to Poteet!

I Traveled Through Nine Countries With Just a Carry-on — and I’m Never Checking a Bag Again– This piqued my interest this week because I’m doing this for our trip to NYC. Although it can be challenging, it’s my favorite way to travel! It’s easy when going to NYC because I just pack black!!

Why You Need A Life Insurance Policy– I’m living proof that Life Insurance policies are important. Wills or Trusts are very important too, but that’s a different issue. I can’t imagine my life if my late husband hadn’t planned for taking care of his family in case of his death the way he did when he was alive. I’ve remarried, but I could have lived out my days independent of anyone else if I had chosen to do that. I’ll be forever grateful to my late husband for not being afraid to have the Big Conversations!

Five Things to Organize Now and Sunday Morning Coffee– I’m saving this to refer back to. I need to organize all five of these things, and I like her tips!

The Only Protein Pancake Recipe You Need – Supersculpt Pancakes!-I can’t wait to try these.

BLUEBERRY BAKED OATMEAL CUPS– I can’t wait to try these either! I met Stacey in my blogging mastermind. She has great recipes!

What I’m Watching

A friend gave Dr. T the DVDs as a Christmas gift. (Yes, we still have a DVD player). It’s a good story, and makes me realize how hard it was to live back in those days. There is a reason it’s called the wild west! Can be purchased HERE.

Traveling Robert Travels Lewis and Clark Route– I’ve shared this man’s Youtube channel so many times, and we are still watching him. His latest has been traveling the route that Lewis and Clark took on their famous expedition. We love watching him!

We are in Season 5 of Yellowstone. It’s not our favorite, but we’re invested! Dr. T gave his friend seasons 1-4 for Christmas. They can be purchased HERE if you want to get caught up.

What I’m Listening To

The former Homeland Security official talks counterterrorism, online extremism, and resources for cultivating peace– This podcast was very interesting. A former pastor shared Russel Moore with me a while back. I always learn something from his podcast. You can use my link or search The Russell Moore Show wherever you get your podcasts.

Women and Money Podcast with Suzy Orman– She’s so good. I’ve learned a lot listening to her!

The Bible Recap– I have a group of about 9 women (two joined this week) who are reading through the Bible together using the Bible app on our phones. We then listen to this podcast each day. It lasts between 5-10 minutes. I’m loving it. It’s not too late to join us. Just let me know, and I’ll send you a ling to our Bible app study!

I loved this book. The ending wasn’t as great as the beginning, but I still highly recommend it.

I’ve been fascinated with the Royal Family since Diana came on the scene when I was a teenage. I’m one of those who can’t look away. I’m enjoying this book. I like Harry. Don’t we all just want him to be happy after everything he’s been through!

Buy It Here

This is my first book study book of the year with my friend in Texas. We are looking for a good self help book or a good Christian based book. If you have one, let us know!

Area I’m Concentrating On

Organization– I’m planning on organizing closets and cabinets this year. I’m hiring a cleaning lady to clean so that I can get all this done! I’m also going to organize our basement. We are fortunate to have a large basement. Dr. T has his drums and woodworking shop in part of it. The rest is storage with a small area we are making into a home gym! Lots to be done!

Book– I’m also hoping to have my book researched and pretty much written by the end of the summer. then I’ll decide if I want to try to publish. An author doesn’t have to have a book completed to start shopping for a publisher. Self publishing is also very popular. I’m just not sure if I want to do either. I may just make some workbooks at a local copy shop and call it a day! It’s been a wonderful experience.
