Things Piquing My Interest #87

October 19, 2022 by Sharon

We saw these bear prints while out walking this morning. They were big so I’m glad we didn’t run into this bear while we were out. I love living in the mountains. You never know what you are going to see while out!

Happy Peak of the Week and Peak of the Month for October! Even as I write those words, I have a hard time believing them! Where has 2022 gone, and how can it be 2022? Since it’s the middle of the week in the middle of the month, it’s time for me to share things piquing my interest on this Peak of the Week.

It’s full on fall around my little mountain town! I love this time of year. There is beauty everywhere I look.

Zuppa Toscana- Tuscan Soup– Let’s just start with something really important, FOOD. With the weather getting cooler, soup is always a good idea. This is a copycat soup from The Olive Garden. I made it for my Bible Study group last week, and it was a hit.

Henry David Thoreau and the Coldest Winter Ever in New England– Save this for a cold night when you are feeling sorry for yourself and your cold weather. It will make you feel better about your cold!

Apple Votive DIY– Nothing says fall family get together like homemade apple candles! I remember hosting Thanksgiving one year as a newlywed and making these votive candles out of miniature pumpkins for our table. It brings me a sense of nostalgia to see these apple votive candles. Let’s all go back to simpler times!

What Flying First Class Is Really Like and How to Decide If It’s Worth It– Pre Covid we booked a trip to Europe. We were told then that many airlines were going to do away with 1st Class to make room for more business class seats. Al long as my seat can lean back so I can sleep, I’m good! How about you- do you think 1st class is worth it?

Roasted Pumpkin Spice Pumpkin Seeds– You can buy these at Trader Joes or make your own!

The 45 Must -Read Books of Fall 2022– Let me know if you’ve read any!

The Tailypo– My kids checked this book out every few months when they were little and we made our weekly trips to the library. It scared them so badly that they placed it in it’s plastic pouch with cassette tape on the coffee table. The two of them would stare at it until they each got their nerve up to listen to it. It’s a fun story, but it scared my kids to death!! I’m still searching for the original audio. Nothing compares to the author reading it.

As strange as this looks, it’s been a lifesaver for me recently. With turtleneck season here, this is great to use so you don’t get makeup on your top! Buy It HERE.

What You’ve Bought

I appreciate that several of you have bought items from my links. When you buy from affiliate links from anyone (including me), the person sharing the link makes a small amount of money from the sale at no additional cost to you.

I have fun figuring out how to use affiliate links and how to share them. I don’t do it for the money, but I like to do it for the fun of it! So, Thank You for buying from me! Here are some items that have been popular lately.

These pink shoes have been a hit. They come in other colors, and are so fun for a pop of color..

Black on Black outfit– This black on black is a favorite outfit. I love this top so much, but I don’t have a link for it. It was definitely a splurge for me. Th designer is Kal Rieman and the top can be found at Julian Gold stores in Texas. Leather pants and leggings look like they will be a must have item this winter. I’ve got several saved for you.

Hair Clips– I’ve been wearing my hair up in a messy bun quite a bit recently.

Shampoo– My hair stylist highly recommended this shampoo and matching conditioner. I’ve been using it and like it.

Shacket– I love this jacket/ shacket so much. I wore it in Breckenridge, and got a lot of compliments on it.

Area I’m Working On At Home

I’m waiting to hear back from some workers about building shelves around our fireplace. It’s a very odd situation, but I think I have a great shelving solution for it!

What We Are Watching

The Voice- it’s back on, and we love watching it.

All Creatures Great and Small– On PBS. It’s a bit slow moving, but the English scenery is worth watching it!

I want to watch

The Watcher

Dahmer– Not sure if I can stand it. I’ve heard from a lot of people that they can’t finish it.

Where The Crawdads Sing– No, I still haven’t seen it. I loved the book. Hopefully we will watch it this weekend.

What I’m Reading

Anna Wintour Biography– So interesting to see how this icon got her start.

Live Wire by Kelly Rippa– I’ve watched and loved Kelly for years. I was notified today that my library took my suggestion and bought this ebook. I can check it out on my Kindle Fire tonight and start it.

Confidence Man– I seriously have read almost every book written about Donald Trump’s presidency. For me, it’s the psychology and sociology of having people look at the same man and see two very different things. Whether you love him or love to hate him, this book (and all books about him) is an interesting read.
