Things Piquing My Interest #81

February 16, 2022 by Sharon

I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve written. I’ve been in a writing slump trying to figure out what exactly I’m doing. I’ve joined an online Writers Group called Hope Writers. I’ve just started in a small group called Establishing a Writing Routine. There are about 150 of us in this one small group!! I think it’s going to help me to organize my time and just do something that I love to do which is WRITE!

I love in a beautiful place!

We are expecting snow again tonight and tomorrow. Here is a picture of a past snowfall. I’m headed someplace warm at the end of the week, and I cannot wait to get there. I’ll tell you all about it!!

So…. here are things that are piquing my interest on this Wednesday- The Peak of the Week on this Peak of the Month!

The Most Dangerous From Of Deconstruction– I’m so happy that a former pastor introduced me to the writings of Russel Moore. I’ve learned a lot from him. I’m still learning about faith deconstruction, and have my own beliefs about what I’ve learned, but he has an interesting article on it here.

The $50 I Can Never Spend– I related to this story so much. My dad gave me a $50 bill when I went off to college. I had it for many years. I’m not sure what happened to it. I’m sure I had to use it in an emergency at some point, but I’ve always replaced it.

18 Banned and Challenged Books Everyone Should Read– I have been wanting to write a post about this new crusade by some to ban and challenge books, but in my writing slump, I just haven’t had the energy. The ONLY good thing that has come out of all of this is that so many people are rushing to read these books. This is a great list of where to start- yes, great works of literature have been banned or challenged over the years— EVEN THE BIBLE.

What I’ve Been Watching

This Is Us– Dr. T and I have watched this show together from the beginning. There are so many story lines in it that we relate to. We’ve laughed and cried during so many episodes. We will be crying when it all ends at the end of this season. If you haven’t watched it yet- it’s a must!! Great writing.

The Olympics– Yes, we’ve watched. I don’t believe in punishing athletes because of governments. I was alive and remember well when President Carter boycotted The Olympics. Maybe I don’t know my history well enough, but I don’t remember that boycott solving anything.

Redeeming Love– I read the book and couldn’t wait to see the movie. We streamed it over the weekend. I liked it! It’s a great story mimicking the story of Hosea and Gomer in the Old Testament.

What I’m Reading

Reminders of Him– Several young women that I follow on IG have been suggesting Colleen Hoover books. This was the first that I’ve read. It was a great escape book. One that I could read in the middle of the night when I couldn’t sleep.

In Order To Live– You have to read this book! My daughter told me about it, and we read it at the same time. It is a young girl’s journey to escape from her life in North Korea. I learned so much!

12 Shocking Photos That Reveal The Truth About North Korea- This YouTube video gives you a glimpse, but until you read her story, you just can’t imagine!

Atlas Of The Heart– I’m reading this book for book studies with two different groups! It’s so good, and really makes me think about my emotions. Every parent should read this book to help their children cope with all that life throws at us!

What I’m Concentrating On

I’m so ready to move from Winter to Spring in my home. How about you? I’m ready to get the Easter decorations out. I’m ready for spring flowers. I’m ready to get my green Fireking dishes out! I’m ready for fruit, flowers, and maybe even some forced branches!

What are you concentrating on in your home? Have you ever forced branches to bloom indoors? I’d love to hear about it if you have!
