Things Piquing My Interest #80

January 12, 2022 by Sharon

Hello and Happy New Year! I’m continuing only doing my Peak of the Week- Things Piquing My Interest once a month in order to free up some time to devote my energy to other things. This post is one of my favorites! For one thing, it helps me keep track of what I like and find interesting!!

I was reminiscing with my sister about a trip we took with our mother to NYC in January of 2019. We talked her into going with us by promising her we would see To Kill A Mockingbird and Hamilton on Broadway! It was also what I told her I wanted for my birthday that year- a trip to NYC to see To Kill A Mockingbird. My mother introduced me to TKAM, and also instilled in me a love for reading so I just couldn’t see myself seeing the play version of my favorite novel without her!! It was an amazing trip. I’m so ready to travel BIG again!! I’m sharing pictures from that trip in my post today!

So- Here are things piquing my interest on this Peak of the Week/ Peak of the Month!

My sister and mother in front of The Plaza Hotel. We we here for tea one afternoon.

While They Can Still Hear (The Case For Living Eulogies)– This title is self explanatory. It goes along with my Holiday Challenge to Not Let Anything Be Left Unsaid! Tell people that you love them and how you feel about them! I wrote about this concept in this blog post- Flowers And A Life Lesson.

12 Simple Decisions to Make 2022 Better than 2021– Who doesn’t want 2022 to be better than 2021. These are easy things to make all our lives more pleasant no matter what year it is.

Top 25 News Photos of 2021-Some of these photos are from the 2020 Olympics so that was a bit confusing, but I didn’t spend a lot of time in the article. If someone figures it out, please let me know! Pictures are amazing.

How to Keep Your Plants Alive While You’re On Vacation– No big trips planned yet for us. I have to get a wedding celebrated for my daughter in June- Then I can think about a trip!!

Eating at Sardis after a matinee of To Kill A Mockingbird.

A Few Things I order over and over from Amazon

Amazon Favorites

I love this exfoliant. I scrub my face with this and then use my favorite cleanser. Buy HERE.

I also love this exfoliant. I keep this in the shower. Buy HERE.

I just started drinking this Kombucha. I found it at my grocery store by the Soda Stream flavors. I haven’t tried it with our Soda Stream. I just use it in my water. It is a Kombucha concentrate, and it tastes really good. 5 calories per serving and no sugar. Good probiotics too! I’m sold! If you can’t find it in your grocery store, you can Buy It HERE.

New York City
Waiting to see Hamilton. It was so cold!!

What I’m Reading

Can be purchased HERE.

A friend texted me this title while we were still visiting family for Christmas and said, “You have to read this book. It’s being made into a move.” I bought it on my Kindle immediately (my library didn’t have it). I started it after we got home, and I do like it. It’s based on the bible story of Gomer and Hosea. Hosea marries Gomer who is a prostitute. That is what happen in this novel set in the 1800’s. It’s refreshing because even with the subject matter, there are no curse words or sex scenes. It’s just a good story! You can buy it HERE.

What We Are Watching

I need some suggestions. Yellowstone is over. The Voice hasn’t started back up. Dr. T is watching And Just Like That ( the Sex and the City reboot) but it isn’t his favorite. I have enjoyed it even though it’s gotten mixed reviews. So….what do you recommend?

What I’m Concentrating On

We are sadly cleaning out my mom’s house so she can sell it. She is very happy in her apartment near my sister so she knows it’s time to sell her house. She is giving my sister and I anything that we want. She has exceptional taste, and so we want a lot!! I’m making room in my house for some of her furniture and dishes.

I wanted a picture by this sign with my mother, but just as the show ended, a horrible snow storm hit. Winds were terrible and were whipping my mother to and fro! My sister took this of me very quickly before we ran across the street to eat at Sardis! My smile says it all about this trip! It was glorious!!! One of the best memories for all three of us!

We loved watching Mare from east town . Such great actors and plot line. Only complaint is that it was too short – only 8 shoes.
