Peak of the Week -a list of things piquing my interest

September 9, 2020 by Sharon

Happy Peak of the Week. Here are the things piquing my interest on this Wednesday 9-9-2020! Here are the Links I Love!

Snow

New Mexico snow fall
Our fall snow wonderland!
I still have 2 humingbirds!
I had to be out early this morning. I love seeing our beautiful park in all the seasons!

Wow!! Since it’s 2020 we decided to just skip fall and head straight to winter! We woke up to a flocked winter wonderland outside!! It is pretty, and knowing that we will be back in the 70s by the weekend makes my heart happy!!

11 Nonpartisan Fact Checking Websites

Leave it to a librarian to come up with a great list where we can go to fact check. THIS is so important right now. Please, Please, Please don’t post anything on social media that you haven’t fact checked.

Fasting Teas

Fasting teas or Pique teas are becoming a trending topic. With so many people intermittent fasting these days, the search is on for what you can consume without breaking your fast. These teas are becoming very popular. I don’t follow a strict intermittent fasting schedule, but Dr. T and I do regularly skip dinner. We have both lost some weight and certainly do feel better. I’ve done that for years as a way to keep my weight down. I got away from it so if feels good to be back at it!

New Mexico Green Chile Chili

I actually came up with this green chile recipe last fall. The days were getting shorter and colder. It was green chile season in my beautiful New Mexico mountains. I had these ingredients on hand, and it has become one of Dr. T’s favorite meals. I made it yesterday since I knew we were getting cold weather. I put in the whole jar of green chiles!! It was really good!

Forrest Fenn Died

I was shocked to read yesterday that Forrest Fenn died. You probably know him best from his treasure that he hid. Finally someone this past year found it. There are some interesting people who live in Santa Fe. I know he will be missed!

Recipes For Classic San Antonio Foods

Boy do I miss some of my favorite San Antonio Restaurants! Here are some recipes from Shrimp Paesano to Rosario’s Salsa and many in between. They’ve even included the school enchilada recipe from Northeast school district!

I had to have fasting blood work done this morning. Since I didn’t get my morning coffee, I treated myself to our French bakery afterwards. Cappuccino and croissants! Nothing better. I’m a big believer in treating myself!! 🙂

What I’m Reading– Winter Solstice by Elin Hilderbrand I haven’t gotten very far, but I love all of her books so I know I will like this one!

Area I’m Concentrating On– I’m still in the process of getting all my fall decor out. I love bringing out those pumpkins and fall leaves. Dr. T made a beautiful candle holder for me this past weekend. You can see a peak of it in my croissant picture above. I’ll be writing a post on how he did it this weekend so stay tuned!

What I’m Watching– I know we are way late to the party with Game of Thrones, but we are finally watching. It is not an easy thing to watch. The violence and sex is a bit much, but the story line is keeping us watching. I was shocked at how quickly we were invested in the characters.
