Peak of the Week 8-12-2020

August 12, 2020 by Sharon

Happy Wednesday, The Peak of the Week! I’m sharing a list of things piquing my interest!

Russia Weaponized Social Media

I have had to take a step back from Facebook once again because I see people sharing posts without thinking of what they are sharing. One thing that I do before I even read something that seems intriguing is ask myself the question, “What if this is actually coming from a Russian agent working to influence American politics, beliefs, etc?” Have you ever considered that before you hit share? This article shows how Russia can do that. Don’t fall victim to aiding Russia or any other country for that matter.

Right-Wing Pages Getting Preferential Treatment on Facebook

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this one.

COVID Risk Assessment Map

I asked my husband this week if he thought we would be able to eat at an outdoor dining venue in Santa Fe before it gets too cold this fall. His answer was, “probably not!” We are ordering take out from many of our local restaurants, but still aren’t going out to eat.

This map really made me think about getting out in any type of crowd. You set the size of crowd, and this interactive map will show you your chances of encountering at least one person who is positive for COVID.

What I’m Reading: The Great Influenza by John Barry

I highly recommend this book. It has been so interesting to compare what happened during the 1918 Spanish Flu with COVID. I’ve read that this is the book President Bush read when he decided he needed to start a task force to get ready for a pandemic. I wish his task force would have been kept in place.

  Can be purchased HERE.

What I’m Watching: We are on season 4 of Alone. We started watching in on Amazon and now watch on-demand. It is fascinating!!

What I’m Listening To: I discovered YachtRoc on Sirius Radio Channel 70 in my car. It is great music. Do you listen to it? If not, you need to check it out.

What I’m Working On– I’m getting bids for landscaping our backyard. I’ve been waiting all summer on someone who gave me a bid in April. He isn’t getting back with me so I guess he doesn’t want to do the job anymore. I’m so excited to get it done.

Don’t forget, I’m getting a Facelift!!  I wish– My blog is getting a Facelift!!

I’d love to know what’s piquing your interest this week!! Let me hear from you.
