Life Update- God Is Good! I feel the need to preface this post with an explanation of this phrase- God Is Good! God Is Good; All The Time. He isn’t good because he answered my prayers the way I wanted this time. He was just as good in April of 2012 when my first husband died and my prayers weren’t answered the way I wanted. God is good- period!
I know many people are trying to make sense of what is happening in their lives right now. People are searching for God. People begging God to answer their prayers exactly the way they want. but we all know too well that that isn’t how our relationship with God works.
God is good because he goes before us even when we can’t see or understand what he is doing.
So, let me update you on my life.
Dr T had successful open heart surgery earlier this month. Thank you, God!
We found out just before Thanksgiving that my husband needed open heart surgery. If this were my health journey, I would tell you all the details, but because it’s not, I will remain fairly vague. We decided that because the surgery was so serious and risky, we needed to seek 2nd opinions. My daughter was huge in helping us navigate this process.
God Was In This Story
Surgery couldn’t be done right away so we had time to get 2nd opinions.– God was in this story!
The day my daughter flew to us, out of the blue, two friends texted her asking about her stepdad. She was able to share specific prayer requests. I believe this was prompted by the Holy Spirit and is a great lesson that God wants us to pray for each other.— God was in this story!
Northwestern Memorial was the first and the best at communication and knowledge about Dr. T’s issue. There was no doubt that Chicago was where we needed to go for surgery.– God was in this story!
I could sense him speaking to me- letting me know that things were going to be OK. That peace that passes all understanding is real!– God was in this story.
We all prayed that the decision would be clear. Through a series of events, it was made perfectly clear that we needed to go to Northwestern in Chicago. —God was in this story.
God Is In This Story!
There are so many examples of seeing God go before us, but because this isn’t my health journey, I’ll stop with these.
So, I sit here this afternoon in an apartment in downtown Chicago listening to my husband watch football in the other room– a glorious sound! His surgery was successful a couple of weeks ago. We will stay a couple more weeks, and then return home. Hopefully, at some point, our life will return to normal, but we will never be the same.
A life-altering occurrence where you see God go before you in indisputable ways is life-changing!
Thank you, God, for showing us who you are and how you work. Thank you, God, for always answering our prayers.
God Is Good. All The Time.
