How to go grey gracefully! Is going grey gracefully even a possibility? Yes, it is with the right highlights and lowlights.

Fast forward a couple of years, and going to get my hair colored every 4 weeks was taking its tole on me. I wanted a change. Enter COVID-19. I decided since I was going to be home most of the time, I’d throw all caution to the wind and Go Grey- Gracefully
I didn’t have any idea what to expect. I dreaded the LINE that I saw on so many women.
I have to say that my transition has not been bad. I’ve had a few months of an awkward look, but it hasn’t been bad.

Lowlights For Brown Hair Going Grey

I posted this picture on my personal Facebook page this past week. I had people text and DM me about my hair. I have a lot of friends who don’t follow my blog, and since I don’t post very much on my personal accounts anymore, they had no idea that I was going grey!!
Thank you to all of you who have encouraged me on this journey. I feel so free! It’s amazing how much our hair effects our life. I’m loving the grey!
Because I still have some weird patches of dark hair, Cynthia is going to do some highlights and lowlights when I go in. The best news she told me is that I can now start waiting 6 weeks or more between appointments. That was music to my ears!! I can live with that!!
One last thing, Cynthia recommended this “purple shampoo” since my hair tends to go so brassy!! I have been amazed at how pretty my grey has been and I think using this shampoo has helped with the color.

If you live in Northern New Mexico, I highly recommend Cynthia at Beauty Chem & Co. in Los Alamos. She is the best, and has done an unbelievable job on my transition to grey. I trust her judgement completely!!

Thank you for this and I would love more posts about gracefully entering the next stages of life!
I lost my mama to breast cancer (on my mind because it’s both breast cancer awareness month and her birthday month) when she was 44-I’m older than my mom now and genuinely feel lost sometimes as to what to do next in these new stages.
You look beautiful.
Rachelle
I’m so sorry you lost your mom so young! I know my kids understand what you’ve gone through! More post on going our next stage of life is an interesting idea!! I’ll see what I can come up with.
Thanks so much for reading!
I really appreciate it.
Sharon
Thank You for this post. Empowering us all to embrace this next life stage My guy is tge best cutter around but color not so much. Now I have to find just the right woman for the job My inky fear is that stuff growing on the top if my head is ugly but may not be gray enough naturally yet. Im still going to try because just now I actually want the rest of just being my own dang age 🤗
Yes! I know going grey isn’t for everyone, but when you are ready, it’s the best!! Highlights have been the key for me. I thin the purple shampoo makes a huge difference on the color too. Let me know how yours goes!!! Thanks so much for reading!!
Your hair is gorgeous, Sharon.
I am 9 months into my going grey journey. My stylist wouldn’t help me. She disagreed with my decisions. After reading Loraine Massey’s book, Going Grey, I learned it’s not uncommon! Crazy, right? Fortunately, I had begun going blond 4 year’s ago and my hair is curly, so the line isn’t horrible. I love being liberated from the 4-week appointment grind.
Wow! I had no idea that some stylists would do that! Yes, that’s crazy. I feel so blessed to have the sweet young woman who does my hair!! Enjoy your freedom from those appointments!! Thanks for reading!!
