Cozy Christmas Bedroom

November 24, 2020 by Sharon

Cozy and Christmas in the bedroom? Yes, sign me up! Our bedrooms are our most intimate space in our homes. Because we spend so much time there, I love to decorate our bedroom with the seasons.

Special note: don’t forget that I’m sharing a Christmas décor post on December 5th in honor of my mom’s birthday- she is the ultimate decorator!! If you have some favorite shots of spaces in your home, I’d love to share them!! Send pictures to sharon@nowchooselife.net.

My favorite bedroom look is at Christmas time. I guess it’s because I live in the New Mexico mountains, but our home doesn’t really feel like a mountain home. However, in the winter, I do give it a mountain feel with the bedding that I choose!

It is easy to change out room decor with the seasons if you start with a clean matelasse bedspread. From this foundation, you can change out pillows, duvets, and throws with the seasons.

I bought this lumberjack plaid bedding several years ago. It is still available. I added pillows that I had made for the house in Texas. I love how they go with this bedding!

Cozy and Christmas in the Bedroom

I love the feeling that I get when I walk into my private space. Dr. T told me the other day how good it feels to walk into that room. His feeling that way made me so happy. He works tremendously hard. I want him to come home to the coziest, warmest home possible! It’s definitely a refuge for both of us.

Similar pillows can be found at Walmart. Target. or Amazon.

To read my thoughts on Christmas in 2016 go HERE. I was still struggling with grief and the emotions that those Christmas decorations stir.

How about you- Do you change your bedroom décor with the seasons?

I have been thinking about this a lot. I change the bedding, but nothing else, but I think I would like to. With our unpredictable weather here in NZ at the moment though, I’d be hard pressed to know when to make the change. I changed from the winter sheets to the summer ones a couple of weeks ago, but now we feel like we’re back in winter – heaters going all day today. My bedroom is blue and white so very light and airy but for winter I think I’d like to add some drama. You’ve got me thinking about it. Thank you for sharing.

Your room looks so cozy & festive! I do decorate in my bedroom with some garland & twinkle lights. Some nights the mister, our son and I will turn on the lights, climb into bed & watch a Christmas cartoon. In my son’s bedroom I also put up garland and a wreath.

Oh it all is gorgeous! I don’t change my bedroom decor because I feel like I can never find the time to even get to the others rooms. Hah! Someday though I’d love to 🙂

2021- New Year, New Word My Word For The Year

I have a new word for 2021. New Year, New Word. I’ve written before that I kept the same word for many years (I guess really a phrase), and it was Still Waters. I wrote about it a little bit HERE. The events of 2020 helped cinch what my word should be. I was ranting […]
