Christmas Decorations

December 8, 2020 by Sharon

I’m still extremely excited to see Christmas decorations from different peoples’ homes. Today, I’m sharing my house as well as my mom’s apartment full of Christmas decorations.

Welcome to my home

Christmas Decorations
Oh Christmas Tree

Last year was the first year since my first husband passed away that I felt like decorating a big tree. I put it up again this year. All my old sentimental ornaments are still boxed up in Texas, but the tree here still has meaning with every detail.

Christmas Decorations

I use a lot of these brass ornaments that my mother gave me from my growing up years. There is also always a pickle on the tree. We’ve had a pickle on the tree since my kids were little. To read about the pickle tradition go HERE.

Other ornaments like this artist handmade ornament from Brighton, England are from places we’ve traveled. We always try to find an ornament on trips!

Christmas Decorations

I love using this old sled at the base of the tree. I also found these small drums that I’ve used every year since Dr. T and I got married. He is a drummer, and my late husband’s favorite Christmas carol was Little Drummer Boy. Those drums honor both of them. This year, I found these cute little guitars in a box I hadn’t seen. My father-in-law plays the guitar so I put those out to honor Pop!!

These Santa mugs are some of my favorite things! They represent my childhood because I remember drinking my chocolate milk out of a mug just like these as a little girl. I’m always on the lookout for more!

I enjoy having small surprises too. I love these candles shaped like muffins and pies that I placed in this cake stand. I love to put this cute little Santa in the art nook in the hallway. It wouldn’t feel like Christmas without all the Christmas books out!

Christmas Decorations

I do something different on my mantle every year. I really like it this year. Maybe I’ll keep it this way for a few years!!

Welcome to my mom’s house

Christmas Decorations

My mother doesn’t put up a tree anymore, but she has these precious vignettes all around her house.

Christmas Decorations

I love this amazing poinsettia.

My Mother-In-Law’s Tree

My mother-in-law still puts up a huge tree. She puts the lights on this massively tall tree. It is beautiful, and the best part is seeing the tons of presents under it when we are all together!!

So here are two more houses. If anyone of you wants to share pictures from your home, mail them to sharon@nowchooselife.net, and I’ll be sure to share them! I love seeing peoples’ decorations and traditions.

2021- New Year, New Word My Word For The Year

I have a new word for 2021. New Year, New Word. I’ve written before that I kept the same word for many years (I guess really a phrase), and it was Still Waters. I wrote about it a little bit HERE. The events of 2020 helped cinch what my word should be. I was ranting […]
