2021- New Year, New Word My Word For The Year

January 12, 2021 by Sharon

New Year New Word

I have a new word for 2021. New Year, New Word. I’ve written before that I kept the same word for many years (I guess really a phrase), and it was Still Waters. I wrote about it a little bit HERE.

The events of 2020 helped cinch what my word should be. I was ranting to my poor husband about what people were sharing on Facebook. He looked my in the eyes and said, “Sharon, you expect way to much from people.” This isn’t the first time he’s told me this.

After thinking about it a while I went back to what I tell many people when they are upset about things or are going into a situation they are unsure about– “I must accept and not expect.” I tell myself this all the time, and it really has helped me.

I try to go into any situations now without any expectations, and I try to just accept what happens.

Word For The New Year 2020

So my word for this year is ACCEPT. I will try to accept people where they are. I will try to accept situations for what they are. I will try to accept 2021 for what it has to offer rather than what I expect it to bring.

Word of the year
Thumbs Up world, universe, people, 2021. I accept you!!
