Today, I’m sharing 2 songs to brighten your day. I love music. I have such good memories of singing all kinds of songs with my kids when they were little. Many of the songs we made up– “Luther Kitty” “Little Man” and “Sweetest Girl” were some of the hits back in the day!!

The fact is music really is the soundtrack of our lives.
Just yesterday, I was driving to meet a friend to walk. I happened to have my Sirius radio tuned to a classic rewind station which is classic rock. Wolfgang Van Halen was the guest DJ. It was the very end of his time, and he was introducing the last song.
He said that while his dad, Eddie Van Halen, was in the hospital, he listened to The Beatles’ Abbey Road album. I really perked up when I heard this because I love The Beatles and especially Abbey Road. He then said that his final song as DJ brought him a lot of hope as he knew his dad was dying.
The song? Here Comes The Sun!!
I admit it. I teared up as I listened to all of this. I could just picture Wolf Van Halen sitting my his father’s hospital bed listening to Abbey Road!!
As hard as this holiday season will be for this young Van Halen, I know that in years to come this memory of sharing this music with his dad will bring him a lot of comfort!
Songs To Brighten Your Day
My mom and I talk about my dad quite a bit. I know she misses him so much, and we like to tell stories about him– he was so funny at times.
On Sunday we were talking about what a great Christmas he will be having this year in heaven! One of us said, “He’ll be having the time of his life.” It made me think of one of my father’s favorite songs, “When I Get Carried Away.” He loved to sing this song, and I can just hear him singing it!!
Music is so important in our lives. It helps solidify memories for some of the happiest and unhappiest times in our lives. I can still remember the song that was playing on the radio when I found out that my precious dog was dead back in the 70s. Every time I hear that song, I think of that little pup!!
I know this is a hard time of year for so many of you!!! It is especially hard this year. I hope that music can be a balm for some of those pains!! It’s really only been in the last few years that I can stand to listen to Christmas music so if not this year for you, I hope that in future years, the songs bring more smiles than tears!!!
